Pilot programme lead in CitSci4SSH — Citizen Social Science for the Social Sciences and Humanities
Citizens in Power is working with the University of Zagreb within CitSci4SSH, an Erasmus+ KA220-HED cooperation partnership running from December 2026 to December 2028 under the coordination of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Founded in 1669, the University of Zagreb is the oldest and largest university in South-Eastern Europe, comprising 29 faculties, three art academies and the University Centre for Croatian Studies. It contributes more than half of Croatia’s annual research output. Our counterpart is the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the country’s largest institution in the humanities and social sciences, through its Department of Information and Communication Sciences.
What distinguishes this collaboration
Zagreb leads the pilot phase of the project. Where the partnership as a whole designs the pedagogy, Zagreb is responsible for turning it into practice: confirming the eight to ten pilot course units across the four participating universities, approving the local adaptation packs that align modules with each syllabus and ECTS load, preparing the students who will carry out the fieldwork, and producing the comparative analysis of what the pilots reveal across four national contexts.
The Croatian pilot examines how narratives about migration and identity travel across borders within a shared information space — a question distinct from the Greek, Maltese and Cypriot cases and central to the project’s cross-country evidence base.
CIP’s part
CIP leads dissemination, exploitation and sustainability, and is responsible for the pedagogical framework, the staff train-the-trainer programme, the open educational resources platform, and the citizen partnerships and onboarding that bring expert citizens into the pilots Zagreb coordinates.
