CIP works with the Cyprus University of Technology on two projects: HEIDI, in the field of digital cultural heritage, and CitSci4SSH, on citizen social science in higher education.

The Cyprus University of Technology was established by law in 2004 and enrolled its first students in 2007. With its orientation towards applied research, the University aims to support the state and society in confronting problems across all areas of science and technology. Its research standing is reflected in the more than €30 million in project funding attracted over the last four years.

HEIDI

CUT participates through one laboratory and one research centre. The Digital Heritage Research Laboratory (DHRLab), established in 2013, is responsible for the digital and holistic documentation of cultural heritage objects and for matters relating to EU and Cypriot policy on digital cultural heritage. The Laboratory is also active in 3D reconstruction and HBIM, with a particular focus on semantics and symbolic representation.

CitSci4SSH — Citizen Social Science for the Social Sciences and Humanities

An Erasmus+ KA220-HED cooperation partnership running from December 2026 to December 2028, coordinated by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with partners in Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta and Ireland.

CUT participates through its Social Computing Research Centre, which hosts Fact Check Cyprus, an independent fact-checking organisation founded in 2023 and a verified member of the European Fact-Checking Standards Network. This is the only partnership in the consortium between two Cypriot organisations, and CIP and CUT deliver the Cypriot pilot together: CUT provides the accredited courses in political communication, research methods and the ethics of new media, together with its verification methodology; CIP brings the civil society networks through which expert citizens with direct experience of migration and asylum join the research as co-researchers. CUT also produces the Student Toolbox used by students at all four participating universities, while CIP leads dissemination, exploitation and sustainability and is responsible for the pedagogical framework, the staff training programme and the project’s open educational resources platform.
