Discover the Heart of Larnaka: “Walk a Mile My Shoes” Initiative

CIP is proud to introduce the “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” initiative, a series of captivating city tours designed to uncover the rich cultural heritage of Larnaka. This project explores the city’s diverse aspects, presenting Larnaka as a living, breathing organism shaped by its people and history. 

Each tour focuses on a unique theme, narrating Larnaka’s story from different perspectives of those who have lived here. In an era of rapid urbanisation and development, we often lose sight of the deep-rooted cultural characteristics and values that define our city. This is especially true for the stories of minorities and historically underrepresented groups who have played crucial roles in shaping Larnaka into what it is today. 

To address this, CIP, in collaboration with key stakeholders of Larnaka, aims to preserve our cultural heritage and foster community integration. We strive to show that in Larnaka, there are no foreigners—only citizens. These city tours, conducted under the auspices of the Municipality of Larnaka, are divided into six thematic areas, each offering a unique lens through which to view the city.

 To make these experiences as inclusive and interactive as possible, each walk is conducted twice. The first session is in Greek, engaging local residents and raising awareness about the contributions of foreigners to Larnaka’s history and development. The second session, held in English, involves Larnaka’s migrant and English speaking residents, enhancing their historical awareness and reinforcing the idea that no one should be considered a foreigner here. Between sessions, we create spaces for dialogue, fostering a more inclusive Larnaka for everyone.
