Nicosia, Cyprus – Citizens In Power (CIP) is proud to announce the successful completion of the GreenCities project, a two-year project that has significantly contributed to youth engagement, climate action, and sustainable development in Cyprus. Over the past two years, the project has achieved numerous milestones, directly involving more than 200 individuals from across both Cypriot communities.
The GreenCities project has provided a platform for young people to actively participate in shaping a sustainable future. From interactive online webinars featuring youth activists and advocates in climate change and international relations, to in-person workshops and bicommunal trainings, the initiative has fostered dialogue, learning, and collaboration among youth organizations across Cyprus.
One of the project’s highlights was a three-session Multiplier Event held at the conclusion of the initiative. This event aimed to showcase the project’s outcomes to a broad audience, ranging from high school students to representatives at high-profile gatherings. The event successfully amplified the impact of GreenCities by presenting its innovative solutions and engaging a diverse range of stakeholders.
However, the most notable and impactful outcome of the GreenCities project is the establishment of Green Horizon NGO, founded by a group of young professionals inspired by their participation in the initiative. Green Horizon is an ambitious educational and research organization committed to delivering sustainable solutions in fields such as inclusive education, environmental protection, AI ethics, space exploration, and sports development.
Through close collaboration with CIP, Green Horizon progressed from a budding initiative to a formally registered NGO ready to present and fund its innovative ideas. CIP provided key support by training the organization’s core members on effective NGO management and sharing best practices to ensure their long-term success in the sector.
Their dedication and forward-thinking approach have not only added significant value to the GreenCities project but have also laid the groundwork for sustainable development initiatives in Cyprus for years to come. We sincerely thank them for their trust, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make.
As GreenCities concludes, CIP remains committed to fostering youth-driven projects and partnerships aimed at addressing the most pressing global challenges. We extend our best wishes to Green Horizon and look forward to future collaborations in advancing sustainability.
