Despite recent advancements in agroecological (AE) research, the implementation of AE practices at the territorial level remains limited. TAPELINE addresses this gap by adopting a multi-actor participatory approach to assess current AE performance and strategize future actions for the large-scale deployment of AE at both farm and landscape levels. The project’s main objective is to catalyze a widespread transition toward agrifood systems rooted in AE principles. This will be achieved through the adaptation and implementation of the Tool for Agroecological Performance Evaluation (TAPE) in five territories across selected European countries (Belgium, Switzerland, Cyprus, Germany, and Italy), integrating context-specific metrics and a transdisciplinary participatory framework.
Overall, TAPELINE aims to enhance knowledge, build capacities, and promote the adoption of AE practices, unlocking their social, economic, and environmental potential. The project engages diverse stakeholders, including civil society representatives, farmers, researchers, policymakers, and regulators at both national and EU levels, to ensure the relevance and uptake of its outcomes. By addressing critical challenges such as climate change, low farm-gate prices, and the declining attractiveness of farming to youth, TAPELINE fosters an AE transition aligned with stakeholders’ local aspirations. It encourages tailored nature-based innovations that mitigate climate impacts and reduce emissions while promoting innovative farming methods and para-agricultural activities to improve farmers’ incomes.
TAPELINE is part of the Agroecology Partnership, funded by Horizon Europe.
