Comix4AI: Learning Artificial Intelligence through Comics

The Comix4AI project aims to creates a new path for Artificial Intelligence in secondary schools to enhance secondary school teachers’ and students’ knowledge, competencies and skills in AI, promote digital transformation through interdisciplinarity and inclusive education practices, combat low student achievement by creating educational materials that can be used by all student to understand AI in the form of digital comics, and encourage STEM-oriented career pathways. 

Target Groups 

The primary target groups for Comix4AI are secondary school teachers specializing in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics and Chemistry with varying degrees of experience, and secondary school students by inclusive approach. 

Secondary target groups include a) National and EU education providers-institutions working on the secondary school curricula of STEM education; b) NGOs from various sectors; c) Policymakers in the educational sector; d) Local and regional AI and graphic designers; e) Universities/Colleges and other research institutions.

Project Results 

  • Development of the AI & ML Comics Module to develop secondary school teachers’ knowledge and digital skills on the intersection of Digital Comics and AI/ML in STEM school subjects. 
  • Creation of the AI & ML Comics Lesson Kit, including Digital Comic Strips and E-Worksheets, to provide teachers with ready-made educational materials rooted in problem-based learning. 
  • Development of the Interactive Digital Comics as a game-based learning tool to enable the development of AI literacy and critical thinking skills in the classroom. 
  • Address challenges such as STEM graduate shortage, lack of digital skills among youth and teachers, and mismatch in AI labor market demand-supply, and promote STEM engagement and STEM career paths through inclusive practices.
